Does anyone know about apple ipod classic 30gb?

Can you help me and tell me what it means when you are trying to drag music from your library onto your ipod you get a message: The ipod “Cathy’s Ipod” cannot be synced. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. What does that mean exactly? Thank you

You may need to restore your ipod to its original state. In itunes, there is a restore button, but you’ll have to put all your music back on.

They don’t do a 30GB iPod any more. I bought it for 220 GBP in December 2005 from the UK, which was later cut down to 189 GBP and I had got the balance refunded. Back in the days only 30GB and 60GB iPod Videos were available. 60GB cost around 300 GBP.

Later they launched 80GB and 160GB iPods which were then called the “Classic” series. Later they added 120GB to the range and eventually discontinued the 80GB and 160GB ones. 30GB and 60GB were already discontinued earlier with the launch of 80GB and 160GB.

Currently only the 120GB Classic is available ((officially)) which costs around INR 14,500 (+/-) [$249 on the Apple Store US; 175 GBP, UK]

John asks…

Can anyone help me with my 30gb video classic apple ipod? It has some serious problems.?

Okay, so i unplugged my ipod from my computer, my computer took a while to shut off, but it didn’t seem like a problem. So, I went to listen to it later and it will turn on onto the apple screen and then flash, make a noise and repeat until it dies. I know it was fully charged, because i always leave it in my docking station. I have tried putting it in my docking station and plugging it into the computer and both times it won’t turn on all the way and jsut flashes and dies, so it won’t read the ipod. I am not the original owner of this ipod, so i don’t have the warranty information or anything.

I went to apple tech support, but they have no address for this problem and i can’t find one anywhere. If anyone has had this happen or has any suggestions, please help me.

Have you been using your computer to charge?
If so, the problem is battery becoming too weak after some time of use. Then your computer is not charging properly anymore. When battery is weak, the ipod is struggling to boot. That might be what you’ve seen. That’s why i always only recommend apple’s wall charger or ionhub multi charger to charge ipod.

If you are already using a apple wall charger, then you need to change battery.

Advice to improve battery life:
1. Never drain(deplete) the battery of ipod too often
2. Always use an external charger (apple or ionhub) to charge your ipod instead of computer usb or a speaker dock

to reset:
1. Unplug your ipod from computer
2. Put your ipod on a flat surface and press both center and menu button for 1 seconds.
3. Connect your ipod to computer and repeat step 2.
That will take care of it.

Good luck!

William asks…

How much will a battery for a iPod classic 30GB run me?

My iPod classic 30Gb battery just ran its course and no longer charges. How much will a new battery cost me at an apple retail store? I wanna be sure before I go buy it but i have no idea how to go around the apple website. can someone help?

admin answers:

If your iPod is under warranty, they’ll probably replace the battery for free. You can’t just buy the battery from an Apple store. You could find them on eBay and install it yourself, but that’s a huge pain. I believe that a out of warranty battery replacement costs eighty dollars. Just give the Apple store a call or visit. They’ll tell you.
